Well, Happily I report that my fundraising seems underway!
On friday, I received a cheque from the Honorable Carolyn Parrish, sponsoring me for $200.00! Although she is my first public donor, it gives me renewed faith that people have received my packages and are interested to donate!
For my mailout package campaign, I chose top names from my community and networks, put together personal packages and provided return envelopes with the postage already affixed. I wanted them to see professionalism and effort when they read through my package. I provided each with a pamphlet about CWY and for bigger organizations, a brochure regarding the financial history of the program. Some even got my resume to give them a better picture of who I am!
I thought the packages looked pretty snazzy, so we will wait and see what other responses I get!
I also have another idea to throw a street sale together, enlisting the help of the community to donae what they can and let me sell it for them..else, maybe rent a donated space and have people pay to set up booths, with the proceeds going to CWY!...Ill have to think that one through, but i think it's time i get a litle more active in the community and see what I can stir up there! There's alot of philanthropists in Mississauga, I just have to reach them!
Apart from the fundraising, Im pretty excited. A little overwhelmed still and probably will be until I leave but optimistic that everything is going to work out perfectly.
I contacted the other members of the Alberta/Bolivia program today and created a facebook group where we can talk about the trip, share ideas and get to know each other a bit before we leave.
